Anni Muhlegg BSW, RSW, MA, CEAT (Bachelor of Social Work, Registered Social Worker, Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology & Certified in Expressive Arts therapy).
Anni is grateful to live where Eagles dance and waters beacon a daily cleanse. She lives on the edges of Arrow Lakes in Syringa, Castlegar in southern British Columbia, where she works as an addictions and trauma integration therapist. As a body-centered psychotherapist who has worked in the field of human services for over 20 years, and as a resilient survivor of complex-trauma, Anni is passionate about how humans can reach states of optimal wellness creating integrative meaning from life's challenging experiences and transitions. Anni is deeply passionate about supporting the integration of life's rites of passages, from personal crisis, mental health challenges and life transitions from birth to the threshold of death. Currently, Anni offers weekly group therapy sessions to trauma survivors who are also in recovery from concurrent conditions (mental health and substance-use). Previously, Anni had the blessing of working in partnership with Aborignal leaders across BC's Interior along with provincial health as a research and knowledge exchange lead and prior to this, she was Interior's health Aboriginal patient navigator for the Kootenay region. Additionally, previous work includes a five-year stint as a mental health and substance use counselor after 10 years as owner and operator of a retreat center in Nelson, BC. Anni's approach to her work is holistic as it encourages physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual integration on individual and collective inter-generational levels. Anni has been blessed for the last 12 years to be learning from beloved Elders, plant medicines and traditional Indigenous and non-Indigenous ways for healing. Also, vital parts of her life is her family which includes lakes, rock faces, local mountains and abundant forests. She loves to paint, pray, sing, dance, prepare flower perfumes and create contemplative soundscapes. To balance her many passions, Anni loves to spend time with her horse Tamrah and participate and assist in healing ceremonies locally and internationally.
Lola, dog extraordinaire Lola is a 4 year old loving, curious and playful Sheltie who joins Anni in her practice. She loves to play, cuddle and sleep and reminds humans of these important health resources.
